ClearStor
is a powerful and highly scalable content management system based on an open
SQL database. Its function is to provide a controlled environment for managing
the creation, editing and storage of information.
The features of ClearStor include:
-
a powerful and scalable database capable of storing entries
composed of either fielded data or documents.
-
template driven word processor and
data entry user interfaces to ensure standardisation and consistency of
input. Templates are configurable to an organisations individual
requirements.
-
task assignment and management
tools enabling the allocation, prioritisation and review of individual
'campaigns'. Examples of a 'campaign' could be a set of corporate data that
needs to be updated by a researcher or a series of interviews that are to be
conducted and documented by a journalist.
-
powerful editorial control
facilities, including sub-editing and publication authorisation.
Issue/version controls allow one or more previous versions of the information
to be stored for reference, as required.
-
facility for researchers,
journalists etc. to append notes to database entries. These are for
reference only and are not published.
-
an integrated high-speed search
and display facility enabling easy access and viewing of related/past database
entries.
-
auto replication between multiple
locations/databases for fast information updates. This is an important
security measure in the event of corruption of data in one of the
locations/databases.
-
a single data output data stream
provides the content for the WWW, intranet, CD and paper delivery
mechanisms. An extremely cost-effective and efficient solution where
multiple delivery mechanisms are required.
-
a range of security measures,
including hierarchical access and file locking controls. Reduces risk of
sabotage and data corruption.
-
multiple information storage
formats - HTML, XML, PDF etc. Flexibility
-
facility for exporting ClearStor
data into Excel spreadsheets for the production of charts, tables etc.
-
export facility via Clarinet's
WordOut product to Microsoft Word. Documents created in this way can then
be formatted in a proprietary DTP software package to produce a paper
publication.
-
accessibility from any geographic
location by means of RAS (Remote Access Server) or an Internet link.
